's a lot of chatter today about dell. at one point it stopped trading 9 and 12 and change. let me give you my feeling on dell. michael dell is a man with integrity who is fed up with the stock. they have moved dramatically away from pc. 50% of the business is overseas and they do a lot of enterprise work. i think michael dell is a motivated person who may actually do something to bring out value. even though typically i would not recommend the stock on a takeover basis, dell is very cheap and i think if it sells off, don't worry about it. dell may actually be right here. just for you, right here on "mad money," i'm jim cramer and i will see you tomorrow! >>> good evening, everyone. i'm larry kudlow. this is "the kudlow report." it's getting nasty again. today, president obama promises not to compromise on the debt ceiling. as usual he demonizing -- demonizes republicans for hurting our elderly and the troops. meanwhile the white house won't deliver its own budget in time and still wants to raise more taxes. we're about to hear a response from a republican house member. >>> that's not all.
even consider dell part of this trend. yes, dell, the big service company that has been hurt by this rapid expansion at a time when no one trusted overseas markets. now dell might actually go private. ♪ hallelujah and it would make sense because half of dell's revenue comes from overseas. big companies with exposure to europe is doing terrifically. both have been kept back by worries. both ceos have said over and over, it's an issue. how about ford and general motors? have you seen these two? ford may have the best chart in the book. it's screaming. company doubled its dividend and getting european losses under control while china and latin america turned the corner. the darn stock has never looked back. shares in the open market to work its way out of its position, both ford and gm have been kept back by international headwinds and now there is tail winds. the most obvious difference between 2012 and 2013 is the banks. huge increase in the finances and no exposure to europe. now it's santander, the huge spanish bank, of all places. it's been on a roll. spain may not ask fo

expected them to be, but there is a catch. and dell could be ready to go private. let's start with credit. ratings agency fitch warns that washington's dysfunction could cost the u.s. the aaa credit rating it still has with them. that is if congress doesn't come up with what it calls a credible medium term deficit reduction plan. understand that fitch is not just looking for an 11th hour debt ceiling deal that sets the table for another mini crisis down the road. the federal government hit the debt limit as you know on december 31st. the treasury is using so-called extraordinary measures to pay its bills through mid-february or early march. now, fitch predicts washington will extend the debt ceiling despite the current war of words between president obama and republicans in congress. what happens if we get downgraded? it happened before. remember 2011, when standard & poor's did it. that hit markets and the wider economy hard, but it didn't cause interest rates to increase. this time could be different, however, because the rest of the world is getting its act together. even successful bu

your business challenge, dell has the technology and services to help you solve it. >>> welcome back to "the ed show." republicans wrapped up their retreat today. they do this every now and then, get together and figure out what's going on unless they want to downsize into a further regional party, they had better pay close attention to this very new poll that's out. only 26% of americans have a positive opinion of the gop. 49% have a negative view. by comparison, 44% have a positive view of the democratic party. 52% have a positive view of the president of the united states. it should be a wake-up call to the republican party. four years ago, house republicans were at this very same retreat, planning their obstruction of president obama's agenda on every single issue. this poll, i think, is a report card. it didn't work very well. 26% of the american people think you're okay. republicans lost seats in the senate and in the house and this poll really is a wake-up call. a death knell if they don't make some kind of change. today republicans at the virginia retreat held a panel discuss
, lamborghini, and a dell or hewlett-packard. but there's a gigantic elephant in the room and that's the stock price. it will not be ignored. apple seems to believe the stock is not obeying the will of the satisfied customer or hearing the charms of the management or marching to the tune of the most innovation, the ipad mini. unfortunately the stock is now reacting to the litany of mundane inputs which have trapped the stocks of other companies. real demand, competition from other companies, gross margins, something made by a samsung, for heaven's sake. i thought they were like a steel company. the stock is reacting to how much money is being made on each item. the dreaded nitpick of gross margins. that mundane, nasty number that its inferiors, competitors are suddenly making superior product at least in the minds of some of the less savvy consumers out there, the superior. what must be really galling to apple is the fact these analysts actually think they need ammo to stay positive, ammo to do something as simple as breathing, which is to reiterate the buy ratings. i can see tim cook turning
